Title "Cargo of ÊFreedom" Oil on Canvas 5'x10'

Learning that I was chosen to create a mural for the
new Air Terminal at Ramstein AFB, Germany, was both a
high honor and a challenge that rivaled the scope of my
attempt to document the events of the China ,
India,Burma theater of WWII. I have aspired to capture
a part of Êthe events in eastern Europe following the
war and their present day repercussions. The inspired
teamwork of the allied effort in resisting and
defeating the Russian attempt to control Berlin,
Germany and advance to the rest of Europe, was a
defining moment in the Cold War.The Berlin Airlift was
not only the greatest feat of its kind in the history
of air transport, it remains an enduring symbol of the
triumph of humanitarian relief over tyranny, and the
power of peace and freedom as democracy's greatest
ambassador. ÊAs of one of our finest chapters in United
States Air Force history and it's far reaching
consequences for our relations with our German and
European allies, the airlift was nothing short of an
ideological and political revolution. General Curtis
LeMay said the Air force could deliver anything. The
Berlin Airlift brought freedom ,hope and the promise of
peace to Berlin, Germany and Europe.
